Cllr John Cope is a dedicated public servant and community advocate, deeply committed to enhancing opportunities and services for residents. Serving as a councillor in Elmbridge since 2021, John has been instrumental in initiatives such as preserving the historic Walton Playhouse, securing life-saving water safety measures on the Thames, and advocating for improved accessibility at local stations.

Professionally, John holds the position of Executive Director at UCAS (Universities & Colleges Admissions Service), where he oversees efforts to support over a million individuals annually in accessing education and training opportunities. His leadership has been pivotal in expanding UCAS’s reach into apprenticeships, recognizing that academic study isn’t the sole path to success.

John’s personal journey—from being born on a council estate and entering foster care, to becoming the first in his family to attend university—fuels his passion for ensuring that everyone, regardless of background, has access to quality education, meaningful employment, and a safe community.

As the newly elected Chairman of the Conservative Councillors’ Association, John continues to champion conservative values, emphasizing the importance of local businesses, education, and community engagement.
